As if their rash of injuries wasn’t enough, the New York Giants are also dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak affecting both players and team employees. Saquon Barkley was one of the positive tests and he’ll miss Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile, Las Vegas has won two straight games and should be well rested after its bye week.

Kickoff from MetLife Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET. Las Vegas is a three-point favorite in the latest Raiders vs. Giants odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook. The over-under for total points scored is set at 46.5. In select markets, Sunday’s matchup can be seen live on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

Paramount+ now has levels of membership so you can watch your local NFL on CBS matchups and much more. Week 9 NFL picks for Giants vs. Raiders

Before you tune in to Sunday’s Raiders vs. Giants game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine’s advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,800 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 9 of the 2021 season on an incredible 128-86 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the Top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

For Giants vs. Raiders, the model is backing the under (46.5). The Giants have played four games at home, while the Raiders have played three on the road. Of those seven combined games, only one has hit the over which clearly makes the under the smarter pick.

New York has been unable to get any traction on the ground outside of Daniel Jones running around. New York’s running backs are averaging just 3.4 yards per carry, while the Raiders aren’t much better. Las Vegas has a rushing average of 3.5 yards as a team, which ranks 31st in the league. This lends itself to short drives, as both teams rank among the top half of the league in punts per game.

While Las Vegas has the better offense statistically, it faces a major adjustment with the release of wide receiver Henry Ruggs III. This is much different than losing Jon Gruden as coach as this is an on-field loss which means all of the other receivers’ roles will be modified. This is something that takes time for an offensive unit to adjust to but the Raiders have only had a few days. The model recognizes this fact and has Derek Carr passing for almost 50 yards under his season average.

With the Giants’ banged-up receiving core and the Raiders losing their best wideout, the SportsLine model doesn’t have any receiver in this matchup topping 60 yards. That helps the under (46.5) hit in well over 50 percent of simulations.
