Filmmaker Erin Brown Thomas, a 2002 Revere High School graduate, is artistic director for the Hollywood-based Salute Your Shorts Film Festival, which is going online for the first time due to COVID-19.

The fourth annual festival of short films, chosen from nearly 900 submissions from more than 50 countries in all genres, runs from Sunday through Aug. 29 at saluteyourshortsfest.com. The festival’s goal is to offer accessible, thought-provoking, conversation-starting stories that align with the film festival’s mantra: “Films with an Aftertaste.”

Brown Thomas’ mother, Lauren Brown, who retired from Revere schools in 2011, is head programmer for the festival.

Cost for the online shorts is $10 to purchase one of 10 blocks of films to watch at the viewer’s leisure Sunday through Aug. 29. Each block includes seven to 10 films; full blocks run up to 100 minutes.

Blocks of films include the “After Hours” that pushes boundaries; “Family Conversations;” and eight others that group films for a full-spectrum emotional journey, including drama, comedy, documentary, experimental, genre and international flavor.

Viewers may also purchase an All-Fest Pass for access to 84 films, Q&A’s with nearly all the filmmakers and the Awards Block, viewable through Sept. 5 for $39.
