However, while right-to-repair advocates mostly cheered the law as precedent-setting, it was weakened by last-minute compromises to the invoice, reminiscent of making it relevant solely to units manufactured and offered in New York on or after July 1, 2023, and by excluding medical units, cars, and residential home equipment.
