Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee, stated Monday that she’s going to step down from her put up on March 8.
“It has been the honor and privilege of my life to serve the Republican National Committee for seven years as Chairwoman to elect Republicans and grow our Party,” McDaniel, the primary lady to function RNC chair, stated in an announcement.
She stated she’d step apart on the RNC’s “Spring Training on March 8 in Houston to allow our nominee to select a Chair of their choosing.” Although former President Donald Trump will not be but his occasion’s nominee for president, he’s the prohibitive front-runner.
The resolution will not be a shock. McDaniel beforehand stated she’d step down after the South Carolina main, which was held Saturday. Trump gained that contest, defeating his solely rival, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, by about 20 proportion factors.
Trump, who tapped McDaniel as as RNC chair in 2016, has stated he needs Michael Whatley, chair of North Carolina’s RNC, and to be RNC chair and Lara Trump, the previous president’s daughter in legislation, to be RNC co-chair.
Also Monday, Drew McKissick, the present RNC co-chair, stated he’d step down, too.
