CHESTER — Robert “Bob” Wilson, 73, of Chester, passed away September 27, 2020, after a battle with cancer.

Born February 23, 1947 in Chester, W.Va., he was the son of the late Denzil Wilson and Audrey (Knox) Wilson Newbrough.

Lifelong resident of Chester, Newell area. Served in Vietnam. Graduated from WV State Police Academy and served Hancock County Sheriff’s Dept. for 37 years as patrolman and sergeant. He was the firearms instructor where he always ranked expert. He always showed respect, fairness and compassion for everyone who came in contact with him. He always said “There is always two sides to every story and there’s usually a little bit of truth in both.

“Bob was also the Hancock County Court Security. He was a member of the Hancock County Deputy Sheriff Association and F.O.P.

He also held membership with the Chester Newell Sportsman Club, Chester American Legion 121 and the VFW. Bob attended The Lords Community Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Denny Wilson and William Newbrough.

Surviving are his loving devoted wife, Susan (Rayle) Wilson of Chester; a daughter, Jennifer (Lance) Adrian of Newell; a son, Robert (Nancy) Wilson of Texas; five grandchildren, Dakota, Ariel, Dustin, Robert and Alex; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Tyler; a brother, Mike Newbrough of Chester; and a sister, Bonnie Wright of Wellsville.

Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, until time of memorial service at 6 p.m. Military services will be conducted by the by the American Legion Post 121-VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard.
