Executive producer Ryan Seacrest has finally reacted to the news of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” coming to an end. On the September 9 episode of “Live! With Kelly and Ryan,” Seacrest addressed the shocking announcement while looking back on how the reality series began.

After asking co-star Kelly Ripa how her daughter reacted to the news, Seacrest opened up how he felt, thanking the family, especially momager Kris Jenner, for their impact on the “amazing show.”

The renowned producer described the famous family’s matriarch as a “dear friend” and “one of the savviest business people on the planet,” praising her ability to raise her kids and effectively run the show.

Seacrest’s reaction comes a day after the family announced that they were ending their beloved show after 14 years.

The 45-year-old then recalled how the show began, explaining that Jenner approached him and told him of her plans to start a reality show around the family. At the time, Seacrest was a producer looking to bag his first series, so he agreed to meet with her.

He recounted that Jenner invited him to film a family barbecue, and he obliged even though he didn’t have a camera, so he and his partners had to go get one from best buy.

After shooting the barbecue and curating a seven-minute tape, Seacrest presented it to the cable network, E! and the rest is history. The host concluded his story by appreciating the Kardashian-Jenner clan, saying:

“Thank you to the Kardashians, who have changed entertainment forever.”

Seacrest’s reaction comes a day after the family announced that they were ending their beloved show after 14 years and 20 seasons. The shocking decision was announced via a joint statement shared on Kim Kardashian-West’s Instagram page.

The family thanked their fans for sticking with them from the beginning and also gave a shout out to the cable network and the production company. They concluded the announcement, letting fans know that they wouldn’t be here without their love and support.

To our amazing fans – It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians. After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way. Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives. Our last season will air early next year in 2021. Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever. With Love and Gratitude, Kim

According to an insider close to the family, the decision to say goodbye to the reality show was mutual and not for any dramatic reason. The source explained that the family had since evolved from when they just began the show, and with the sisters having kids of their own, filming has been quite difficult.

Nevertheless, fans still have time to catch their beloved show as “KUWTK” would return to our screens on September 17 for its 19th season while its 20th and final season would air in early 2021.
