Filmmaker Saawan Kumar Tak died at the age of 86, at a hospital in Mumbai, on Thursday. On Friday, many members of the film industry attended his funeral in Juhu to pay their last respects. In attendance were veteran actor Prem Chopra, filmmaker-producer David Dhawan, actor-comedian Sunil Pal, film producer Manmohan Shetty, filmmaker Ashok Pandit, and Vicky Kaushal’s father and stunt actor Sham Kaushal. Saawan Kumar Tak, known for hits like Souten and Saajan Bina Suhagan, died due to heart failure, according to a report in PTI.

Saawan Kumar Tak was also a producer and lyricist. He has written songs for films like Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, starring Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel, and 2004 film Dev, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor.

He was brought to a hospital in critical condition on Wednesday. He was being treated for a lung infection and breathing issues until he breathed his last at 4:15 on Thursday, PTI reported.

The filmmaker began his career as a producer in 1967 with the film Naunihal. The film featured Sanjeev Kumar. It was Saawan Kumar Tak who renamed Haribhai Jariwal to Sanjeev Kumar. Mr Kumar made his directorial debut in 1972 with the film Gomti Ke Kinare.

Many celebrities, including Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, and Rakesh Roshan, paid their last tributes to the filmmaker through social media posts. Salman Khan worked with the filmmaker in his 1991 filmSanam Bewafa and 2006 filmSaawan…The Love Season.
