Toss Scotland opt to bat v Papua New Guinea

Kyle Coetzer won the toss as Scotland elected to bat in their second group B fixture against Papua New Guinea in Al Amerat.

Both sides made one change each to their seam bowling attack. Scotland brought in Alasdair Evans in place of Safyaan Sharif, while Chad Soper replaced Damien Ravu for PNG.

A veteran now at 29, Soper, who has also played grade cricket in Sydney, first broke through on the big stage at the Under-19 World Cup in 2012, where he picked up a five-wicket haul against eventual champions India. Evans too is a veteran now, having led Scotland’s seam attack at their previous T20 World Cup outing in India in 2016.

Scotland: 1 Kyle Coetzer (capt), 2 George Munsey, 3 Matthew Cross (wk), 4 Richie Berrington, 5 Calum MacLeod, 6 Michael Leask, 7 Chris Greaves, 8 Mark Watt, 9 Joshua Davey, 10 Alisdair Evans, 11 Brad Wheal
