Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices LIVE: Benchmark indices opened flat with negative bias amid mixed global cues. The Sensex was down 68.30 points or 0.12% at 59264.30, and the Nifty was down 19.20 points or 0.11% at 17639.80. Broader markets outperformed benchmark indices as Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 surged up to 0.2 per cent. Sectorally, Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal led the gains. Nifty IT, Nifty Auto, Nifty Media, however, were losers in trade. Power Grid, NTPC, Tata Steel, SBI, IndusInd Bank were the top contributors to the benchmark indices. Maruti, Nestle India, Tech Mahindra, on the other hand, were laggards.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will release the retail inflation figure for July at 5.30 pm today. Headline retail inflation is likely to have cooled in July, led by lower food prices, with prices of certain key items posting a sequential fall, according to economists. In June, the inflation rate measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decelerated to 7.01% from 7.04% in the month of May. Last week, the RBI lowered its inflation forecast for July-September to 7.1% from 7.4% earlier.
