KENNESAW, Ga. – With the season opener three weeks away, Kennesaw State football quarterback Xavier Shepherd and kicker Nathan Robertson were named to the HERO Sports’ Preseason All-American team, announced Thursday.

Shepherd was selected as a preseason first-team all-American by HERO Sports at the all-purpose position. The quarterback put together a record-breaking year in 2021 and set single-season school records for passing yards (1,341) and passing touchdowns (15). He also led the FCS in rushing touchdowns with 23.

Robertson earned preseason second-team all-American honors following an incredible season as the Owls’ placekicker. In 2021, the Columbus, Ga. native became 12th player in Big South Conference history to surpass the 200-point mark. He also recorded the longest field goal in KSU history with a 48-yard blast at Robert Morris (Nov. 6).

Fans can watch the Owls six times this season inside Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Season tickets are still on sale and highlight the most affordable purchasing options in KSU football history.
