With the arrival of cooler temperatures, Sierra Community Access Television – Comcast Channel 2 (SCA-TV2) viewers have a unique opportunity to sit back, grab a cup of cocoa and watch newly produced and classic videos featuring El Dorado County.

The beauty of SCA-TV2 entertaining opportunities is that these videos featuring our community may be viewed both on Comcast Channel 2 and streaming on demand via the internet on computers, tablets, smart phones, smart TVs and Blu-ray players by simply accessing the SCA-TV2 YouTube channel. The station’s YouTube channel “SCATV2” offers more than 300 videos organized into 50 separate and diverse playlists. (Viewers can screencast SCA-TV2 YouTube videos from a smartphone to their YouTube app on a high-definition TV.)

What better way to learn of the area’s rich history, offerings, resources and information? Channel 2 is now showing recently produced videos, including an enlightening interview with members of the Fausel family who explain their local agricultural history and connection to Main Street’s Placerville Hardware, the oldest hardware store west of the Mississippi; an insightful overview by El Dorado Irrigation District General Manager Jim Abercrombie to inform viewers “El Dorado County Water … IS there enough?”; the American River Conservancy’s nine-part series colorfully illustrating the history of the Wakamatsu Tea and Silk Farm; resources of awareness of wildfire preparedness by CalFire, California Highway Patrol and National Geographic; county explorations hosted by local celebrity Guy Nixon; just to name a few.

With its aim to always be up to date with current local issues, SCA-TV2 responded to pandemic conditions with additional support and information to local businesses, chambers of commerce and others impacted. One example was SCA-TV2 created and anchored a network of social media platforms to produce abbreviated Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies at the El Dorado County Veterans Monument, canceled because of pandemic precautions. The event was seen on SCA-TV2 and the network at the precise day and time of traditional ceremonies. These efforts were viewed by more than 30,000 viewers. SCA-TV2 will be on hand this Veterans Day, 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the El Dorado County Veterans Monument, 360 Fair Lane in Placerville.

For those who also enjoy being behind the lens wielding the camera or smartphone, consider sharing videos and slideshows of hobbies, passions, accomplishments by requesting that your publications be shown on SCA-TV2.
