Actor Sonu Sood, who emerged as a different kind of hero amidst the coronavirus pandemic, on Monday said he would provide financial assistance to over 400 families of deceased and injured migrant workers.

The ‘Dabangg’ actor, who has been helping stranded migrants reach their homes in the lockdown, got in touch with the authorities of various states, including, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and took relevant information -addresses and bank details – of the migrants who lost their lives, as per news agency PTI.

According to the report, the 46-year-old said in a statement, “I’ve decided to help families of the deceased or injured migrants for them to have a secure future. I feel it’s my personal responsibility to support them.”

Continuing his months-long mission of helping people in need reach their homes, the engineer-turned-actor is now trying to get 4000 students struck in Kyrgyzstan back to the country.

In a tweet posted on his official handle, saviour Sood – as he’s being referred to – said, “Homecoming time..let’s bring you all back. Just pray and it will happen soon, God willingly. My next mission.”

Ever since the lockdown in March, the actor has been working to arrange transportation for thousands of migrants desperate to return to their home states.
