South African University to start 6-week course on blockchain technology and digital currency – Times of India

The University of Cape Town in South Africa is all set to start a 6-week course on blockchain technology and digital currency. The course starts from November 1 and enrollment begins from October 26.
The course is priced at Rs 49,104, according to the University website. Being an online course it can be accessed by anyone globally. A legal certificate will be issued on the completion of the course.
The course claims to impart skills and understanding of the following aspects of blockchain :
* An understanding of the usability and adaptability of blockchain within existing financial systems and the usage of applications such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and other crypto assets.
* Insight into crypto assets and digital currencies in the South African and emerging market context.
* Knowledge of CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies) that will help individuals remain updated about the latest developments in the financial world, particularly those that are shaping the future.
* An understanding of ethical considerations that are associated with the growth of the crypto industry.
The course claims to provide the students enhanced skills and up-to-date industry knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrencies and their potential advantages.
The University has said that the incomparable growth of crypto assets and blockchains across the globe is the reason it is launching such a course.
The pace of crypto penetration makes it imperative for professionals to understand how the latest digital advancements will change the way the financial systems function and operate today.

Recently in India, IIT Kanpur also launched a 4-month professional certificate program in blockchain, that teaches the fundamentals of blockchain solutions, besides how to build smart contracts, bitcoin wallets and create transactions. The IIT Kanpur course that started in April 2021, begins its new batch from October 5.
