First photo: Yankees players sit in the stands instead of the dugout during Thursday’s 11-4 win over the Dodgers in the Kihei Little League Majors Division league opener at Dorvin Leis Field at Kalama Park. Due to physical distancing guidelines because of COVID-19, parents were not permitted to sit in the bleachers. Instead, the players spread out on the bleachers when it was their team’s turn at bat. The game was one of the first sanctioned competitions of any kind on Maui since sports were shut down by the global coronavirus pandemic in March.

Second photo: Kihei Little League mom Karen Browne stands in the parking lot while taking video of son Brady Browne as he bats for the Yankees on Thursday afternoon.
