The Centennial High School boys tennis team came within a win of sweeping Mesa Ridge on Monday, defeating the Grizzlies 6-1.

The Bulldogs won all four doubles matches and received wins in singles from Zander Pacheco and Trevor Niccoli. The lone loss came at No. 3 singles.

“This was really a good team win for us,” Centennial coach Bradley Gerler said. “Zander has really been playing well to start the season. I thought our doubles played especially well today too.

“We haven’t been able to finish doubles challenge matches yet, so they may still move positions a little bit, but the fact that they came out today and took care of business in the spots that they were in shows that we have four pretty good teams developing. We still have a lot of things that we need to clean up. It just helps everybody’s spirits when we can win some matches as we’re learning.”
