That sets up a semifinal meeting with Bayern Munich, which ripped Barcelona 8-2 on Friday. City, one of the most expensively assembled squads in soccer history, lost to the team that finished seventh in the French league. Paris Saint-Germain and Leipzig previously advanced to the other semifinal of the tournament being staged in Lisbon, Portugal.

Pneumatic earned 20 points for the Kentucky Derby, on Sept. 5. That race is limited to 20 starters and Pneumatic gained a guaranteed spot — provided his owners want to challenge Tiz the Law, the expected heavy favorite.

Brady, Teichmann to play for tennis title: Jennifer Brady reached her first WTA final by beating 16-year-old Coco Gauff 6-2, 6-4 in the Top Seed Open, the first pro tennis tournament in the U.S. since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Brady will face Jil Teichmann in Sunday’s title match of the tourney in Lexington, Ky. Teichmann beat Shelby Rogers 6-3, 6-2 in the other semifinal. Rogers, ranked No. 116th, upset Serena Williams in the quarterfinals.
