The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville will not be starting full enforcement of vaccination requirements for the town’s indoor sports facilities until Nov. 1. As a result, at this time, no individual, who is currently exempt because they are participating in an organized sport (participants aged 12-17 years or coaches, volunteers or officials) will be turned away if they are unable to provide proof of vaccination or medical exemption.

The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville supports the Letter of Instruction issued by the Region of York on September 28 regarding vaccination requirements of patrons of the town’s indoor sports facilities. The letter requires patrons aged 12 to 17, all coaches, volunteers, and officials to be fully vaccinated in order to participate in organized sports, starting Oct. 1.

The town will be using a model of enforcement that includes education and encouragement as required. As part of this approach the town will be asking patrons of our indoor sports facilities to have a first shot by Oct. 1 and reinforcing the requirement that by Nov. 1 they must be fully vaccinated to be allowed entry. The procedure gives patrons time to get their vaccination.

Aurora, Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Markham and Vaughan have adopted an education-first approach until the end of October.

All Ontarians can print or download their vaccination receipt from the provincial booking portal at covid19.ontariohealth.ca. Those who need support obtaining a copy of their vaccination receipt including those who do not have access to a computer or printer can call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900.
