Surat has stepped up preparation amid a surge in instances of pneumonia amongst minors as a consequence of a brand new virus in China. Over 1,700 beds with 780 ventilators have been saved prepared in metropolis hospitals.

Acting on the advisory of the state well being division, the authorities of New Civil Hospital and Surat Municipal Corporation-run SMIMER hospital have ensured the provision of beds, medical oxygen, PPE kits, and ventilators.

SMC Deputy Health Commissioner Dr Ashish Naik mentioned, “We followed all the instructions and guidelines issued by the state health department and Centre. All logistics are in place and pediatric doctors and surgeons have been alerted. We have also carried out mock drills successfully..”
