HYDERABAD: It was a Sunday with a difference as players of various age groups gathered at the Academia Sports Village at the Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club (HPRC) on the outskirts of the city. Players of the age groups from nine years to senior citizens took part in the weekend session organised at the tennis courts of the ASV.
Taking part and rubbing shoulders with the youthful lot and matching them stroke for stroke were veterans like Dr Om Parkash Agarwal, orthopaedic surgeon Dr M Chandrasekhar, structural engineer, director, IVTA, A Vishwanath Reddy, CEO, IMI Mobiles Ltd, Sunil Gogia, publisher, Asia Law House and Syed Ather Hussain, architect.
Tennis training resumed at the Academia Sports Club recently after the nation-wide lockdown owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. “All the precautions and preventive measures are strictly complied with at the training. We are following the Covid-19 guidelines and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government,”said Mohammad Shamsuddin, CEO of the ASV.
Currently training is being held in two sessions: from 7am to 10.30 and from 3.30 to 730 pm. “The trainees are divided into small groups of three or a maximum of four players to ensure social distancing,” he added.
