President Biden and first girl Jill Biden visited Marines and sailors aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina Monday night to celebrate Friendsgiving.

“The American people have no idea the sacrifices you’re making,” the president mentioned earlier than doling out dinner to the troops. “One percent of you represents 99% of the public; you’re all volunteers, you all just show up, and you’re always there.”

Some 400 service members and their households sat down for dinner with the Bidens to get pleasure from a meal — turkey and ham with sides together with stuffing and mashed potatoes — ready by celeb chef Robert Irvine and meals service Marines.

The dinner occurred in collaboration with the White House’s Joining Forces Initiative, a program that helps army members and their households. Maj. Joshua Schubert informed NPR that a lot of the Marines and sailors are junior enlisted members serving beneath the twond Marine Expeditionary Force and made the journey from Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

The first girl informed these in attendance that she and the president know what it is prefer to be away from household in the course of the holidays.

“We are a military family. My dad was Navy; our son was Army.
