Weather change calls for a change in your hair care routine as well. Here are some expert-recommended DIY hair masks to help your mane deal with the changing season.

Get your hair ready for the summer with these home-made hair packs.

As we bid farewell to the cold winter months, we’re sure as hell excited to flaunt them summer dresses. However, the change in our wardrobe essentials isn’t the only thing that this transition demands from us. This seasonal change also calls for a change in our haircare routine.

“It is extremely important to take good care of your hair during different seasons because the weather has a direct impact on our scalp,” says Dr Blossom Kochhar, founder of the beauty brand Aroma Magic.

“During winter, the skin and scalp lose more moisture due to dryness in the air. During summer, however, the sunlight dehydrates the hair and increases scalp sweat,” she further explains.

Hence, Dr Kochhar recommends these home-made hair masks for summer to help your hair deal with this change:

1. Deep-conditioning mask for dry hair
Shampooing frequently and using harsh shampoos can make your case of dry and damaged hair even worse—especially in the changing weather. However, conditioning your hair and scalp well with a mixture of different oils can nourish them.

All you need to do is to mix 1 tablespoon of castor oil, 1 tablespoon of almond oil, 1 tablespoon of glycerine, 1 teaspoon of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of protein powder, and 4 drops of sandalwood oil.Massage this mixture into your scalp and apply it along the length of your hair. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before showering (you can even leave it on overnight), and get set to say hello to strong and healthy hair that can take on cruel weather change.

2. Toning mask for oily hair
Ladies, if you’ve got an oily scalp, transitioning from dry winter months to humid summer can be particularly difficult for you as your hair tends to become oiler and fall flat as the temperature soars.

Home-made hair masks will help your mane battle the changing weather.

Oily as it might be, your hair still needs nourishment in order to cope up with this change. So, here’s what you need to do: in a glass of water, add about 10 drops of patchouli oil and 1 tablespoon of malt vinegar. And your toning lotion is ready.

Apply it evenly on your scalp and hair length, leave it on for around 20-230 minutes, and rinse it off with a mild shampoo.

3. Hot-oil mask for normal hair
Even if you’re one of the lucky few to have healthy hair and a normal scalp, you still can’t afford to take this God’s gift lightly. In order to combat the changing season, give this hot-oil massage a chance.

Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of castor oil, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 2 drops of rosemary oil. Heat the mixture until it is lukewarm and massage it into your scalp. Leave the masque on for about 20 minutes and then, wrap your hair in a hot towel to let the pores of your scalp open up and soak in all the goodness.

You can unwrap and wash your hair after 15-20 minutes for a visibly shinier and healthier-looking mane.
