NEW DELHI: French electronics maker Thomson is planning to enter the laptop computer market in India, with the corporate near finalising a Noida-based contract producer to make the gadgets regionally, stated a senior government.“Thomson will be coming in a big manner in the laptop category. This decision has been made to counter laptop brands which have come in smart TVs. We will be targeting all segments from entry-level to ultra-premium,” Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO of Super Plastronics (SPPL), Thomson’s official model licensee and manufacturing accomplice in India, instructed ET.

Thomson sees a possibility with the federal government imposing restrictions on laptop computer imports from November 1. The firm, which re-entered the Indian market in 2018 in partnership with SPPL, primarily makes TVs in India which it sells on-line solely by way of Flipkart, and for laptops, too, it’ll observe an identical technique.
