China’s Li Shangfu has been lacking for weeks

“Three US officials and two people briefed on the intelligence said the US had concluded that Li, who has not been seen in public for more than two weeks, had been stripped of his responsibilities as defence minister,” the report learn.

Emanuel on Friday claimed on X (previously Twitter) that Shangfu didn’t attend a scheduled assembly wth the Singaporean chief of navy as a result of he was “placed under house arrest”. However, he didn’t elaborate.

Former Chinese commander Li Yuchao had not been seen in public for weeks prior.

Who is Li Shangfu?

Chinese Defence Minsiter Li Shangfu was born in February 1958. He is the son of a PLA commander who fought within the Korean struggle.

Shangfu is 65 years previous. As per Chinese media, he graduated from the PLA’s National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in 1982 and earned a grasp’s diploma in engineering. He then labored on the army’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre for about 30 years.
