After Rhea Chakraborty complained about the rape threats she has been receiving on her Instagram page post-Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, an offence has been registered at Santacruz police station against two Instagram account holders. They have been booked for sending obscene and threatening messages to the actor. On July 16, 2020, Rhea had shared a screenshot of the rape threat she received from an Instagram user and tagged Cyber Crime India to take necessary action against the user.

She had written, “I was called a gold digger ..I kept quiet. I was called a murderer…I kept quiet. I was slut-shamed ….I kept quiet. But how does my silence give you the right to tell me that you will get me RAPED and MURDERED if I don’t commit suicide @mannu_raaut? Do you realize the seriousness of what you have said? These are crimes, and by law no one, I repeat NO ONE should be subjected to this kind of toxicity and harassment. I request @cyber_crime_helpline @cybercrimeindia to please take necessary action.”

Earlier, Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur took cognisance of rape threats of Rhea and said that strict action will be taken against the accused.

As per ANI, the minister said that she has taken up the issue with state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Moreover, Rhea made an appeal to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case.

For the first time, she also addressed herself as Sushant’s girlfriend.
