BUTTERWORTH (Sept 8): Two entertainment centres were ordered closed while their 26 customers were compounded RM1,000 each for not complying with the standard operation procedure (SOPs) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) in an operation, here, last night.

Seberang Perai Utara district police chief, ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said five entertainment premises were inspected in the integrated operation with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP).

‘’The MOH issued two notices to close two entertainment centres for seven days due to absence of physical distancing, workers not wearing face masks and customers’ failure to register before entering the premises, in the four-hour operation from 8 pm.

‘’The police also issued a compound of RM1,000 each to their 26 customers because they did not comply with the stipulated SOPs,’’ he said in a statement today.

He said, in addition, MOH also issued a warning to an entertainment premises because its workers had not registered to enter the premises.

He said, during the operation, MBSP also issued five compounds for not complying with the conditions of permits, no injection for workers and no permit to open an entertainment centre.

The police urged entertainment outlet operators and visitors to adhere to the SOPs set in the effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, he added.
