Each week, area high school coaches can submit a list of standout performers from their team from the previous week’s games. If your child’s name – or anyone from your child’s team – doesn’t appear on the list, please encourage your coach to email their submissions to jhughes@gastongazette.com or sports@gastongazette.com before noon each Sunday.

Here are some of the top performers from this past week’s action.

Volleyball

Paige Bagwell, Kings Mountain: Had 25 assists, five kills, five digs and three service points in a 3-0 win over Forestview. She added 42 assists, four service points, three digs and two kills in a 3-0 win over South Point.

Addie Beaver, Crest: Finished with 27 assists, 10 digs and five kills in a 3-0 win over South Point.

Anne Bradley Bing, Gaston Day: Broke a Gaston Day single-match assists record with 61 in a 3-2 win over Asheville Christian.

Drew Brown, Gaston Day: Set a new career high with 31 kills in her team’s 3-2 win over Asheville Christian.

Kaylan Brown, Mountain Island Charter: Had 13 kills, 13 digs and 19 serve receptions in a 3-1 loss to Christ the King.

Megan Brown, Gaston Day: Finished with 26 kills in a 3-2 win over Asheville Christian.

Kaela Bryson, Piedmont Community Charter: Finished with three kills, five aces, two digs and 27 assists in a 3-0 win over Corvian Community School.

Madison Bumgardner, Highland Tech: Had 24 assists in her team’s 3-0 win over Cherryville, and added 19 more in a 3-0 win over Bessemer City.

Aaliyah Byers, Kings Mountain: Had 22 kills, 11 digs, 12 service points and four serve receptions in a 3-0 win over South Point.

Maddi Carter, Lincoln Charter: Had 21 kills, seven aces, 14 digs and 17 serve receptions in a 3-2 win over Community School of Davidson. She followed that with 12 kills, five aces, 11 digs, two assists and 15 serve receptions in a 3-1 win over Pine Lake Prep.

Katie Cook, East Lincoln: Had 15 assists, five digs and an ace in her team’s 3-0 loss to Foard. She added 30 assists and 11 digs in a 3-2 win over St. Stephens.

Kamden Dalton, Lincoln Charter: Finished with 18 digs and 36 assists in her team’s 3-2 win over Community School of Davidson. She added 23 assists in a 3-1 win over Pine Lake Prep.

Kendall Fisher, East Lincoln: Had 29 digs, 12 kills, eight serve receptions and five aces in a 3-2 win over St. Stephens.

Rachel Green, East Gaston: Finished with 20 kills, 14 digs, 10 serve receptions, five aces and a block in her team’s 3-2 win over North Gaston. She added 15 kills, seven aces and two digs in her team’s 3-0 win over Shelby.

Mary Kate Hurst, Gaston Day: Had 31 digs in a 3-2 win over Asheville Christian.

Rileigh Kiser, Cherryville: Had 14 aces, 16 assists and four digs in a 3-0 win over Hunter Huss.

Hailey McFadden, East Lincoln: Had 12 kills, 10 blocks, four digs and an ace in a 3-2 win over St. Stephens.

Catherine Pate, Crest: Had 10 kills and seven digs in her team’s 3-0 win over South Point. She added 13 digs and six kills in a 3-0 win over North Gaston.

Yahreia Peeler, Shelby: Had nine kills, four aces, four blocks and three digs in her team’s 3-0 win over Bessemer City.

Reagan Poynter, Crest: She had 34 assists and seven digs in her team’s 3-0 win over North Gaston.

Lizzie Ruble, Mountain Island Charter: Had 18 assists in a 3-0 win over Langtree Charter.

Ozi Sery, Highland Tech: Had 12 aces, four serve receptions and three assists in her team’s 3-0 win over Bessemer City.

Sierra Soles, East Gaston: Had 16 kills, nine serve receptions, six digs and a block in her team’s 3-2 win over North Gaston.

Meile Songaila, Kings Mountain: Had 16 kills, 11 service points, 11 digs and four service receptions in her team’s 3-0 win over Forestview. She added 10 kills, nine digs, 11 service receptions and seven service points in a 3-0 win over South Point.

Madison Thompson, Highland Tech: Had 11 kills in her team’s 3-0 win over Cherryville.

Hadley Walsh, Shelby: Had 20 assists, five aces, two digs and two kills in a 3-0 win over Bessemer City.

Boys soccer

Joseph Bravo, Stuart Cramer: Had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Forestview. He added a goal later in the week in a 2-1 win over South Point.

Jackson Thomas, Ashbrook: Had two goals and an assist in his team’s 9-3 win over Crest.

Fidel Medina, Ashbrook: Scored a goal in his team’s 2-0 win over Hunter Huss, adding two more in a 9-3 victory later in the week over Crest.

Amari Speid, Ashbrook: Scored a goal in his team’s wins over Hunter Huss and Crest.

Eder Castillo, Stuart Cramer: Scored a goal in his team’s win over Forestview and South Point.

Cameron Petti, Kings Mountain: Scored two goals in his team’s 6-1 victory over Crest.

Dylan Platt, Kings Mountain: Had a goal and an assist in the Mountaineers’ 6-1 win over Crest.

Jack Berkowitz, Shelby: Earned a hat trick with three goals, along with a pair of assists in his team’s 5-0 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Helmut Rojas, East Lincoln: Finished with two goals in his team’s 5-3 loss to North Iredell.

Girls golf

Reese Coltrane, West Lincoln: Tied a school record with a score of 37 last week Lincoln Country Club. She also made a ‘Double Eagle 2’ at hole No. 16 — a par 5 — when she holed out her second shot from 195 yards.

Amelia Connor, South Point: Shot a 44 en route to earning medalist honors last week at Lincoln Country Club.

Rachel Hamby, Crest: Led her team with a 46 at Lincoln Country Club last week, helping the Chargers win their Big South golf match by 15 shots over second place Stuart Cramer. 

Girls tennis

Jazmin Higley, Hunter Huss: Won 6-4, 6-4 in No. 1 singles against Ashbrook, following that with a 3-6, 6-3 (10-8) win over Crest to complete the week.

Rennie Liu, Forestview: Earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stuart Cramer in No. 1 singles, following that with another 6-0, 6-0 victory against South Point.

Chloe McCall, Burns: Claimed an 8-0 win in No. 2 singles over Highland Tech, along with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Cherryville.

Hannah McCall, Kings Mountain: Earned a pair of wins last week, including a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ashbrook in No. 1 singles.

Cross country

Girls

Chloe Compton, West Lincoln: Placed ninth at the Tryon No. 4 meet in Bessemer City on Oct. 6, crossing the line with a time of 22:55.

Ally Hollifield, Shelby: Finished fourth at the Armentrout Invitational in Rutherfordton with a time of 21:10.16.

Lauren Tolbert, Highland Tech: Claimed top honors at last week’s Tryon No. 4 meet with a time of 19:28.

Bella Wood, North Lincoln: Placed 11th at the NC Runners Elite XC Invitational on Oct. 9. She finished with a time of 19:40.42.
