You can make Dhaba-style chilli chicken at home in all of 20 minutes. You just have to fry the marinated chicken pieces and mix with the sauted mixture of onion, tomato and bell pepper, seasoned with garlic, green chillies, ginger and fresh coriander leaves. Here’s a secret tip from the restaurant – To marinate the chicken, coat chicken in cornflour, red chilli powder and salt batter for 2 hours.

Here’s the step-by-step recipe of Dhaba chilli chicken

Ingredients:

200 gm chicken

1 tbsp garlic minced

1 tsp green chilli

1 cup onion cubes

1 cup bell pepper cubes

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 cup tomato puree

1 tbsp cornflour slurry

Fresh coriander

Julienned ginger

Salt to taste

2 tbsp Oil

Method:

Deep fry the marinated chicken.
Heat oil in a pan and add ginger mince, green chilli and sauté.
Add cubed onions, bell peppers and some water.
Add red chilli powder and tomato puree.
Add the fried chicken and cornflour mixed with water.
Cook till it thickens.
Serve with fresh coriander and julienned ginger.
