Because we could all use some Franck in our lives! It’s been over 25 years since Nancy Meyers’s remake of Father of the Bride premiered, but somehow, it feels like yesterday. On Sept. 25, Steve Martin, Kieran Culkin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, George Newbern, and Martin Short from the beloved 1991 movie reunited for a special with Netflix, with surprise appearances from Ben Platt, Florence Pugh, Robert de Niro, and Alexandra Shipp. The family hopped on a Zoom call to chat all about living through the COVID-19 pandemic, reminisce about Annie’s epic wedding, and most importantly, attend a virtual wedding officiated by wedding planner Franck (Short), of course.

The adorable reunion call started with George Banks (Martin) making sure his children, including his youngest (Pugh), and grandchild (Platt) were sheltering at home, Cloroxing, and wearing their masks. After catching up, Matty (Culkin) surprised his family, announcing he was getting married to his fianceé, Rachel (Shipp) on that very Zoom because he didn’t want to wait any longer. Rachel’s father (de Niro) also joined the joyous occasion, which was followed by a beautiful musical performance of “The Way You Look Tonight” from Platt.

The Netflix event also raised awareness for World Central Kitchen, which helps provide meals to those in need around the world. Prior to the reunion, Netflix shared a hilarious teaser that included an email invite from Matty to his father. “Dad are you coming to the video call? And yes . . . I checked, it doesn’t cost anything so accept the calendar invite, okay?” Classic. Watch the heartwarming Father of the Bride reunion above, and welcome to 2020, Mr. Banks!
