The 38-year-old Bronx resident was later shot lifeless by a police officer. The suspect has beforehand been arrested and charged in connection to a strangulation/home violence incident.

Courtney Gordon has been recognized because the suspect who fatally stabbed 4 of his relations and slashed two NYPD officers in Far Rockaway, Queens, on Sunday morning. The 38-year-old Bronx resident was later shot lifeless by a police officer.
Officers responded to a house at 467 Beach twenty second Street shortly after 5.10 am after receiving a 911 name from a lady who mentioned her cousin “was killing her family members.”
When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw the suspect attempting to flee with luggage in tow. The suspect slashed one of the officers in the face and another in the neck with a kitchen knife. He was then shot dead by a 28-year veteran officer.
“As they get to the driveway they see a male walking out. He’s carrying luggage. The officers asked the male a question or two, an encounter that lasted about 10 seconds, where the male draws a knife on our officers. He stabs one officer in the neck/chest area and strikes the second officer in the head,” NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey mentioned throughout a press convention.
The officers then found an 11-year-old girl lying on the ground outside the residence. She was rushed to Long Island Medical Center- Cohen, where she was declared dead.
Police said the suspect had set fire to a couch in the home before attempting to flee. This made it difficult for them to enter the residence until the firefighters arrived and doused the blaze.
When officers entered the home, they found three people – a 12-year-old boy, 44-year-old woman, and a 30-year-old man – with stab wounds. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 61-year-old woman was also found with stab wounds. She was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in critical condition.
The suspect has previously been arrested and charged in connection to a strangulation/domestic violence incident in the Bronx. It is believed that he was visiting family members at this location of the stabbing.
The president of the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York described described Gordon as a madman.
Praising the officers, he said, “This scene was chaos — a number of victims, a home on hearth, and a madman on a rampage, on a mission. I’m grateful that these law enforcement officials confirmed up. Imagine what might have occurred if these law enforcement officials weren’t there.”
“This madman tried to kill — after he killed others — a New York City police officer. The ability that this police officer had (by) taking pictures and stopping the menace after he was being stabbed — unbelievable ability. I do know each these law enforcement officials personally. (They) did an unbelievable job. True professionals,” he continued.
“(They) are nice males who have been doing their jobs. And once more, thank God they have been there … what number of extra victims might there have been if these expert, skilled law enforcement officials didn’t present as much as this scene,” he added.
