Bollywood’s award season kickstarted with the 68th version of Filmfare Awards final evening. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s Badhaai Do had been among the many huge winners. Gangubai Kathiawadi led the pack with 10 trophies together with a number of the largest awards for the evening – Best Film, Best Director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Best Actress for Alia Bhatt. Rajkummar Rao received Best Actor Award for his efficiency in Badhaai Do. Meanwhile, Tabu and Bhumi Pednekar shared the award for the Best Actress (Critics) for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Badhaai Do, respectively. In the critics class, Sanjay Mishra received the Best Actor prize for his efficiency in Vadh.

Veteran actor Prem Chopra was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Best Debut (Male) award was received by Jhund actor Ankush Gedam. Anek actress Andrea Kevichusa received the Best Debut (Female) Award.
