Nov. 18 (UPI) — The Russian army launched a collection of drone and missile assaults in opposition to Ukraine Friday and Saturday, placing Odesa. Officials stated the drones took an oblique route to achieve Kyiv to attempt to trick Ukrainian air defenses.

“Night air attack. Kyiv had not experienced such a powerful attack since spring. The enemy launched a massive, combined attack using drones and missiles,” Serhii Popko, the top of Kyiv’s army administration, said on Telegram and translated from Ukrainian.

Using the derogatory time period “rashists,” roughly which means “Russian racist,” Popko stated the Russians first fired assault drones, particularly Iranian-made Shahed barrage munitions, in a number of teams from completely different instructions towards Kyiv. The enemy drones took an oblique path to the capital.

Local authorities stated a civilian was injured within the metropolis of Odesa as Russian strikes broken power infrastructure and an administrative constructing.

And two buildings have been broken in Chernihiv area.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday stated he expects to tell Russian President Vladimir Putin that he “must withdraw troops” from Ukraine however cautioned that “Germany is a middle-sized power.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday thanked the Ukrainian army for intercepting Russian drones and thanked Germany, Finland, and Lithuania for brand new help packages.

“Last night almost 30 ‘Shaheds’ were destroyed in our sky. I thank all the soldiers of mobile fire groups, the aviation of our air force, and the anti-aircraft missile troops,” Zelensky stated in a video message posted to X Saturday. “Your accuracy, guys, is literally life for Ukraine.”
