Ludhiana: After remaining closed for more than five months due to enforcement of restrictions in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases, the district sports department will soon reopen three to four local training centres in the district for conducting physical training of local trainees.
The local sports authorities are conducting a meeting to finalise three to four local sports training centres, where they will begin the process of conducting physical training sessions in morning hours to improve the fitness level of local trainees.
Moreover, sports officials will provide safety measures to all local players who will be attending the physical training sessions of the district sports department.
There are almost 15 training centres in the district which have not been functional for the past five months after the government imposed strict lockdown owing to the outbreak of Covid-19. But now, the district sports department will soon reopen a judo, gymnastic and weightlifting training centres for conducting physical training.
The development is the result of the regular demands being raised by the local coaches before the state sports department officials to give permission for restart of physical training workout sessions for local trainees as they are struggling to maintain their fitness while remaining at home.
Sports officials will give permission to only those players for training sessions who will visit the centre in their own vehicles or bicycle as they have to focus on strengthening the safety measures of local trainees .
Giving more information on this, district sports officer Ravinder Singh said, “We are making preparations for resuming physical training session at some sports centres in the district.” He further said that, “Coaches will not resume sports activities at these three-four training centres of the district. In the initial stage of development plan, we will allow players who have remained national as well state champions for physical training during morning session.”
A national judo champion, Aryan Kumar, said “We are happy after hearing that the district sports department will soon resume physical training session of local national as well state-level players in some coaching centres.”
